Resume vs Curriculum Vitae
There are times that companies will request a curriculum vitae rather than a resume. A curriculum vitae is a summary of one's experiences and skills that is typically three to five pages long. Aside from being longer than a resume, there are still other differences:
| Differences | Resume | Curriculum Vitae |
|---|---|---|
| Experiences and Accomplishments | Highlights key experiences and accomplishments that employers seek | Highlights involvement and academic accomplishments |
| Length | Usually one or two pages long | Can range from three to five pages or 30+ pages for academic professionals |
| Objective | Contains a career objective | Doesn't have an objective, but may have a brief statement of research interests |
| Format | May be graphically creative | Format is conventional and conservative |
